Compress images without uploading them

Shrink JPG, PNG and WebP files for email, forms and websites. Keep the format, pick a quality and size, and download the smaller copies. Batch, private, free.

JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, GIF, BMP, AVIF. Up to 50 files at a time. Nothing is uploaded.

Files never leave your device. Check the network tab if you like.

Two ways to make a photo smaller

Compression lowers the quality setting so the encoder throws away detail your eye cannot see. Resizing reduces the number of pixels. For a phone photo headed to a form that says 'max 2 MB', resizing the longest side to 2048 pixels and using quality 72 usually lands under 500 KB with no visible change on a screen. This page applies both by default.

PNG has no quality slider; it is lossless. To shrink a PNG photo meaningfully, either resize it or convert it to JPG or WebP on the main converter. PNG screenshots do shrink when resized because there are simply fewer pixels to store.

Common size targets

Rough settings that meet typical upload limits for a 12-megapixel photo:

UseLongest sideQualityResult
Email attachment2048 px75300–600 KB
Job or visa application form1600 px80200–400 KB
Website hero image2048 px70 (WebP)150–300 KB
Profile photo800 px80under 100 KB

Batch compression stays on your device

Because each image is processed by your own browser, you can compress a whole album at once without a queue, a daily limit or an account. Download everything as one ZIP when it finishes. Very large batches on an older phone will be slow but will complete.

Frequently asked questions

Will compressing reduce the quality noticeably?
At 70 or above, not on a screen. Keep 90 or higher for prints and archives.
Why didn't my PNG get smaller?
PNG is lossless, so the quality slider does nothing. Resize it or convert to JPG/WebP.
Is there a daily limit?
No. There is no server involved, so there is nothing to limit.
